Peery SloanMEETING SPOT

2024

Day One: ask studio neighbors if they are okay with me digging a huge hole + work zone in front of the building. What a hell of a commitment for something so uncertain. But why not?

Day Thirty-nine:walls are collapsing under the weight of fresh cob. No wonder these structures take months (& years) to build.  Going to see if I can have a bonfire in the structure to dry it out. Marshmallows should be invited.

Day Fifty-nine:great conversation with Dana and Daniel, giving me the confidence to let it be in its current state: purposely undone and loose as an invitation for play: a lab. *blue tarps catch rain, mirrors the sky*

Day Sixty-two: It’s officially The Meeting Spot! It held what I hoped and beyond - folks hung out for 3 hours, some rotating, others staying the entire time. Lounging against the cool cob, blowing whistles, and resting. It was the repreive needed from the long, hot, demanding summer

cob (clay, sand, straw), pipes, clay, pulleys, plants, buckets, cushions
