The Labor Room
Undoing (the Labor Room) performance, 2024
Dressed in laborer coveralls with my ankles tied to the desk and wrists bound by bones and an incessant radio, I unravel a knitted tapestry that took many months to create. For an hour, I recited engrained mantras from my Protestant upbringing: “To work is the will of God; nobody cares, work harder; work must be performed as an absolute end in itself, a calling; don’t waste your potential.”

The Sensory Room
In contrast to the Labor Room, this space brought in plants, smells, sounds, and framed views of the world outside the gallery walls. An invitation to lead with exploration rather than purpose.
